The Manuel Álvarez Bravo House Archive (Casa MAB) houses the Manuel Álvarez Bravo AC Association, founded in 2005, and the Manuel Álvarez Bravo SC Archive, founded in 2011. The mission of both organizations is to preserve, research and disseminate the legacy of Don Manuel and Colette Urbajtel, his third wife.
In parallel with its mission to preserve and publicise Don Manuel's legacy, Casa MAB wishes to convey to its visitors a living memory of the atmosphere, objects and furniture of what was the photographer's home and studio during the last forty years of his life, accompanied by Colette Urbajtel and his two youngest daughters.
The building was designed and built by architect José de la Vega in 1955 at the artist's request as a home and personal studio. From 2021 to 2023, the house was renovated by architect Brígida Recamier Díaz de León, to be converted into the Manuel Álvarez Bravo Archive House.
